Application
CMIT and MIT are respectively short for 5-Chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one. They are the active ingredients in a mixture sold commercially as Kathon. As two of the most widely used isothiazolinone biocides, they are highly efficient in killing and inhibiting microorganisms such as mould and algae.
Storage
As a preservative, this product is stored in plastic containers. It is kept in a cool place and away from light.
